The Delta variant is a new variant of COVID-19 that is very contagious and seems to be sweeping the nation and the world. While this variant doesn’t seem to necessarily cause more severe symptoms, it is much more contagious which means it spreads very quickly causing more people to become ill and severely ill. It is also unclear how the virus will continue to change as people contract it. This variant of COVID has already been found in every state in the United States and is likely to become the main strain people experience over the next little while.

At this point it is clear that the vaccines do significantly reduce patients’ odds of contracting COVID-19. But they’re not 100% effective, you may also need to get a booster shot in the future to maintain effectiveness.
