How to Get More Vegetables in Your Diet

Everyone knows that you need to include vegetables in your diet. They are an excellent source of the vitamins and minerals that your body needs to function. If you are struggling to get enough vegetables in your diet, then perhaps it’s time to try a new approach.

Find New Ways to Prepare Them

People can often dislike vegetables simply because of the way they have always had them prepared. If this is the case for you, then you simply need to find new ways to prepare vegetables to make them more appealing. For example, instead of eating raw vegetables, try cooking them instead. Most roasted vegetables are more palatable and tasty. You can add plenty of spices and seasonings to them or top them with cheese or other dairy products as well. Cooking vegetables with olive oil and butter can also help to improve the taste. There’s a lot you can do to improve the taste of vegetables and make them into something you can really enjoy.

Add Them as Toppings

If you don’t want to make vegetables the star of your dishes, you can still find ways to include them by adding them as toppings to other foods. This way, you can incorporate them into your food more so you don’t notice them as much. It can be easy to enjoy your favorite foods with a little something extra. You can add fresh vegetables to pizza to make the meal healthier. Vegetables can also be topped on tacos and burgers. You can even include them inside certain dishes. For example, you can layer zucchini in your lasagna or add vegetables to a soup.

Use Them as Carb Substitutes

Vegetables have been popularly used to replace carbs for many diets. This could be an interesting option for you to explore. Use vegetables in place of carbs to eat certain foods but still make them healthier. Some common examples are cauliflower crust pizza, zucchini noodles, or broccoli tater tots. Many vegetables can be used in place of noodles, rice, buns, and bread as well. Give a few different substitutes a try and see if that is a way for you to get more vegetables in a day.

 

There are many reasons you may not be getting enough vegetables in your diet. If you find that you aren’t getting enough, then it’s time to try and find new ways to eat vegetables. Doing so can help you improve your overall health.
