Here are a few bad habits you want to avoid so that you can emerge after isolation feeling better than ever.
Not Working Out
Just because you’re unable to go to the gym doesn’t mean that you have to abandon working out altogether. Biking, running, and rollerblading are all activities that can be easily done while social distancing. For those who still want to stay inside, body weight exercises like push-ups and squats are the perfect way to still fit in your required movement for the day. There are also plenty of online tutorials that will walk you through cardio workouts or yoga, so there’s really no excuse for not staying active even during quarantine.
Drinking Too Much
The monotony and boredom of isolation might sometimes make you want to reach for the bottle. You may be tempted to drink more, but this can have detrimental side effects for your health, including stress and depression. Too much alcohol can negatively affect your vital organs as well, causing your liver and kidneys to work overtime to help filter the alcohol from your bloodstream. It’s alright to drink in moderation, but be sure to limit your present intake just as you would if you weren’t in lockdown.
Eating Junk Food
When you’re stressed and stuck at home, it’s all too easy to reach for junk food that requires very little effort to make and tastes delicious. However, this can be disastrous not only to your waistline, but also to your health. Unless you want to come out of quarantine with some serious medical issues, be sure to pack your diet with as many fruits and veggies as possible. If you want to limit the number of times you venture outside to go to the grocery store, consider stocking up on frozen veggies. They can often hold the same nutritional value as their fresh counterparts.
Quarantining isn’t easy, but it’s important to keep an eye on your health even when you’re isolated. Find a new routine that works for you, and you’ll be rewarded once you come out on the other side.
