As COVID-19 cases continue to climb across the country, people are looking for things they can do at home to stay busy in lieu of going out. With the arrival of summer, everyone is itching to get out and enjoy the sun. Fortunately, there are some great things you can do in your backyard that will help you get out and get more sun.

Painting

Have you taken a good look at the outside of your home recently? Could it use a little TLC? You might consider giving your home a new paint job. You could focus on the trim. Giving door and window frames a fresh coat of paint can make a huge difference. If you're feeling ambitious you can paint the whole exterior. This is a pretty big project, so make sure you have the right tools for the job, as well as enough paint to cover everything. Or maybe you're feeling artsy and want to paint a mural. This can add a fun, personal touch to your home. Whatever project you decide to pursue, these are great for getting you working outside in the sun, since painting is definitely a good sunny day project.

Gardening

Gardening is another great outdoor activity you can do in your backyard. Gardening can be an excellent way to get some light exercise. It's a great opportunity to grow your own produce as well. Growing your own produce means you can have perfectly ripe vegetables fresh from your garden to use as you cook, which means you can maximize the delicious flavors instead of hoping for the best with what's available at the grocery store. Waste needs a few months to compost before it is ready for use. You'll want to keep track of this to capitalize on the benefits.

Water Games

With how serious everything has been so far this year, everyone can probably benefit from taking a break every now and again to just have fun. Sunny days and backyards are perfect to break out some water games. If you have a pool, whether in ground or inflatable, swimming can be excellent exercise. If you feel like revisiting your childhood, you might try turning on the sprinklers and running through them. Or you can have water fights. Regular sun exposure is healthy for the mind and body. And while going to the beach may not be the most advisable activity right now, you can still have a good time outside in your backyard.
